Welcome to St Thomas'! We are a small, but growing, church in the heart of the Groves area of York. We are committed to reaching out into our local community – serving people who are in need, and above all showing God’s love as best we can. We want to celebrate what God is doing in this wonderful part of His world.

We meet together each Sunday at 10.30am, and we hope that you will find our gatherings welcoming, family-friendly, and full of God’s presence.

If you live in this part of York, you can be assured that we are praying that God will richly bless you and that you will know his love and goodness in your life.

St Thomas News - 17th May 2019

Dear all,

On Sunday we are privileged to have Jean-Claude and Israel from Burundi joining us - we will hear from them as well as continuing our 'cross-shaped living' series.

Mike and Jo will be admitted as church wardens on Monday - the service is at 7.30pm at All Saints, Upper Poppleton - all welcome. The Archdeacon has been appointed Bishop of Shrewsbury, so this will be one of her last services in the diocese.

The elections on Thursday mean that Creative Cafe (1.30pm) will be in the church this week.

Thy Kingdom Come (find out more here) runs from Thursday 30th May (Ascension) to Sunday 9th June (Pentecost). A few things to know:

- I have some excellent prayer resources which will be available at church which guide us through daily prayer during the period. There is an encouragement to pray for five people throughout the 10 days.
- There is a 'call to prayer' for Christians in York on Friday 31st May, 7pm, Central Methodist
- There is a Big Men's Breakfast on Saturday 1st June, 8.30am, Spurriergate (tickets here)
- There is a 'celebration' in the Minster to which we're encouraged to bring friends on Sunday 9th June, 7pm

We are hosting our own event on the Haxby Rd School field on Sunday 9th, 12-3pm. Please let me know if you can be involved in anyway - for example:
Setting up; barbecuing, serving tea and coffee, baking, games, face-painting, music, etc.

And finally, please do consider whether you could be involved on Sundays in different ways - in particular welcoming on the door, helping with refreshments, helping to clear away and tidy after the service, counting the collection. Just let me know if so. It would be great to update our lists and involve more people. And huge thanks to all who already serve in so many ways.

Hope to see you soon,
